It’s Friday! The 13th day of #jamuary2023! Today’s jam again features the Modal Electronics Cobalt 5S virtual analog synthesizer and, as always, the Zoom G3n multi-effects pedal.
As with the CraftSynth 2.0 and the Skulpt SE, the Cobalt5S has been considered to be “For Sale.” And, I think it still may be. I have decided to keep both the CraftSynth and the Skulpt, but I don’t know that the Cobalt 5S offers enough more than the Skulpt. Yes, it has one more voice, and a slightly better modulation matrix. Oh, and a screen. But really, I’m just not sure. I probably would have been better off in the case of both the Skulpt and the 5S to have just waited until I had more money, and bought the full-on Cobalt 8. Ah, well, water under the bridge at this point. They do all sound pretty good.
