It’s the 28th day of #jamuary2023 and I’m back with my trusty Boss RC-3 looper and the Korg Wavestate for another day of jamming. Someone said I was cheating for using extremely long (song length) loops recently, so today’s jam features a fairly short loop…

Today’s jam contrasts a brooding, pulsating, dissonant drone that includes an annoying, sometimes piercing filter sweep with an upbeat, latinesque percussive jam with a marimba-like melody that seams somehow familiar but can’t quite be placed.

In all, a perhaps a little unsettling. I suppose that’s bound to happen when you play parts in different, adjacent keys….

Technically, there’s not a lot going on here. The drone was made up of three Wavestate presets put together on the Boss RC-3 looper. The percussion loop and marimba parts were played in “live” and recorded with Ableton Live. The result was processed with a little gain, compression, and finishing with Ozone 9.

I hope you’re enjoying the music, and I also hope you’re enjoying the variety of music being made by others. Here, again, are the links to #jamuary2023 content on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook:
