DESCRIPTION:Some of you may have noticed that I've been playing around a lot recently
with using pseudo-randomized note and timbre sequences in ambient music ...
without buying special software. Let's play with that some, because it
makes for some interesting sonic textures. My two latest releases on
Bandcamp have both featured randomized sequences (that was shameless
promotion, meant to entice you to go check out the new songs. My Bandcamp
link is below).
TIMELINE: 00:00 Begin transmission 00:00 Opening Jam 08:30 Welcome and
preamble and minor audio adjustments 09:40 MIDI interface issues so we're
"in the box" 11:24 What's in The Jam? 21:00 Some more chatter about the
MIDI interface and other stuff 23:55 The random note and patch generation
background 25:35 Ways to accomplish results similar to using Harmony Bloom
35:33 There's been drama and I don't do drama well 36:00 Why not a
modular/VCV approach -- too many tools 41:30 Building a random track and
synth 43:00 An aside -- cleaning electronics 49:50 Random timbre patch in
Vital 58:30 Kurt looking at Solar 42. It makes me drool. 1:00:00 Eric wants
granular. Discussion continues in chat while I'm playing with effects.
1:07:15 Stacking VSTs in synth rack to be controlled by random sequence.
1:09:20 Layering random pluck with pad sounds interesting, and prepping for
rack for receiving note triggers 1:13:30 Building the trigger track.
1:21:00 That's randomoscity in a nutshell! 1:22:20 Discussion of the
Ableton Random MIDI effect, and other options for algorythmic note data
generation 1:28:25 Considering options for building entirely within the
"synth", and the utility of the PiKorgs. 1:32:00 Listen to
‪@dani_raudvik‬ on YouTube, and latest album on BandCamp:
https://raudvik.bandcamp.com/album/mdcx 1:34:35 Winding down, links in
chat, etc., good night all and thanks! 1:38:25 The Closing Jam 1:44:22 End
transmission
