Electronicafest 15 — Arrival

Saturday, November 2, 2024 @ 12:00 pm 9:00 pm

I’m excited to learn about this event right here in the Baltimore area! I’ve been looking to find like-minded folks, and this may be just the ticket. I’ll be attending at least part of the day, and maybe find some way I can be involved in the future. If you’re into the history of PCs, it’s also worth the trip to see the Computer Museum of System Source, which is at the same location. Bob Roswell has been growing the museum collection since the early ’80s, when I worked for him at Computerland of Baltimore.

Electronicafest – a place where experimental electronic sound is thoroughly enjoyed! 10 hours on the first Saturday in November full of knob twisting patch cabling fun. Everything from Synths that are worth more than the the houses they are kept in to circuit-bent thrift store toys to legit instruments driving synths. Some noise, some music – all cool sounds.

Electronicafest had it’s beginnings and ran for many years at the National Electronics Museum (NEM) in Linthicum, MD. The last live event happened live in 2019. Due to COVID and a changing relationship with with the owner of the museum space, it was virtual in 2020, did not happen in 2021, and was not scheduled to happen again in 2022. This could not stand. The community of experimental electronica suffers in the absence of this event. So we decided to have it outside of NEM.

With the blessing of the NEM, ElectronicaFest is happening at a new location as a fundraiser for NEM. System Source in Hunt Valley, MD has graciously opened its doors to us. They have an amazing computer Museum there that is worth the trip in itself. Big thanks to Bob Roswell for giving us this amazing venue!!

This year we will be expanding beyond just awesome electronica performances. We will also be putting on educational experiences throughout the day, workshop topics schedule will be posted here later. There will also be an all day plug and play jam space with a 4 channel amp that will be accessible between acts. Bring a little synth or whatever and see what happens.
